What is your UX focus on the team?
I am a UX designer focused on bringing an easy and enjoyable experience to the product details page.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
The people. This is a great UX team composed of talented friendly people who want to push the boundaries and get ahead of where we can take the retail experience both online and off. These are the types of people I love to collaborate with. And of course… the discount is nice too…
What animal best represents you?
I really want to say a tiger or dolphin or something beautiful and majestic, but in all honesty, I’d have to say a goat… let’s go with mountain goat. I’m pretty scrappy and sure-footed in difficult situations and enjoy a challenging path to the best view ever. Plus I’m social, will pretty much eat anything, and have a crazy head of hair. Obviously, I’m a mountain goat.
ANGEL - DESIGNER
What is your UX focus on the team?
I am a UX designer supporting the full-price core customer shopping journey. My focus is on our product details page and creating a thoughtful experience that helps our customers shop with confidence.

What is your UX focus on the team?
I’m leading customer-facing user research, focusing on the core shopping journey from homepage through checkout, customer accounts, and omni-channel fulfillment and returns.

A wolf—I love working in a team to solve difficult challenges, and I'm a good communicator.

I’m a content strategist and writer. I focus on both customer shopping experiences and employee apps.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
The reaction I get when I tell people where I work. It’s always “I love Nordstrom!” Also, the amazingly talented team that I get to work with.

Squirrel. I’m a quick learner, but also resourceful and observant. I’ve also been known to stash treats at my desk for snack emergencies!

Designing internal tools.

The octopus. I like to chill by myself, blend into my surroundings, learn by watching, and have 3 hearts (one for the people in my life, one for kid toy design, and one for coffee).

What is your UX focus on the team?
As a content strategist, I’m involved in every stage of the design process. I ensure that content is clear, consistent, engaging—and always user-centered. I currently work on wayfinding, transactional emails and app-specific projects.

I love my wonderful teammates who make work feel like fun. I also love working for a company with legendary customer service. UX is—and will continue to be—an essential part of that.

ASHLEY - DESIGNER
What is your UX focus on the team?
I’ve been focused on our large scale events (like the Anniversary Sale), our loyalty program, and our omni-channel fulfillment offerings. My projects span both online and in-store experiences so I’m constantly thinking about how to connect those two spaces to create a delightful, intuitive user experience.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
I love that the foundation of our work is to provide great customer service because that ultimately translates to providing great customer experiences. Our company is known for putting customers first and that means we are empowered to be truly user-centered in our work. Plus, our team is super-talented, yet humble and supportive!

I am the UX Researcher for Internal Tools focused on making our employees lives easier.

What is your UX focus on the team?
I am focused on our Nordstrom enterprise tools and operations so our employees don’t have to jump over hurdles to get their work done and the Nordstrom business can work as efficiently as possible.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
MY UX TEAM. We have a supportive, open-minded, energetic and talented team and I love them to pieces. On top of that, I really appreciate the Nordstrom family and their values. They are humble individuals and I am proud to work for a company that has such great leadership and is willing to adapt in the changing market.

What is your UX focus on the team?
I’m a UX designer focusing on our Internal Tools at Nordstrom so our employees can have better tools to get their work done effectively.
What is your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
1) Our supporting UX team! I love working with my team and the culture we have at Nordstrom. They foster growth mindset values which helps me learn continuously.
2) Being able to work on complex problems and create an impactful solution with the team.

An Otter. They are easygoing but spontaneous at the same time. They have positive energy, creativity, and are adaptable to change.
DIANA - DESIGNER
What is your UX focus on the team?
My current UX focus is on product discovery and evaluation. I support redefining the search and browse experience for web, iOS and Android.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
The people! Both employees and our amazing, loyal customers.
What animal best represents you?
Octopus. Because they are intuitive and adaptive. Did you know octopuses can alter their genetic code to become more tolerant of cold temperatures, and improve their eyesight to see better in the dark?
ELENA - DESIGNER
What is your UX focus on the team?
I’m currently focused on the web and app checkout experience, from the shopping bag through the order confirmation page.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
Definitely the people. Everyone on the team is extremely encouraging and cares for one another. We hold each other to high standards and support each other in order to succeed.
What animal best represents you?
I would say I’m most like a bat. Although they live together in large colonies and form strong ties, they’re very independent, enjoying darkness and quiet. They follow their intuition and view things on the most basic level. Plus, they always wear black. ;)
FRANKLIN - DESIGNER
What is your UX focus on the team?
I’m focused on our omni-channel fulfillment and returns experience at our full price stores to provide the best communication, transparency, and offerings for the needs and expectations of our customers.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
The people! There is an incredible group of talented and passionate individuals here that come from all walks of life and share the same vision. I’m excited to see the types of changes and growth that happens within myself, the team, and the company when we come together.
What animal best represents you?
I’m a turtle—agile when I’m in my element, and when I’m not, I like to slow things down to question and understand precedent first. And, growing up, a common response from introducing myself as Franklin was, “oh, like the turtle?” from the children’s tv show “Franklin” featuring a turtle—and I’ve fully embraced it.
HANNAH - WRITER
What is your UX focus on the team?
I’m a UX writer and content strategist who primarily works on customer-facing products. But I also like to refer to myself as a professional question asker—I think it’s necessary to have a really robust picture of a problem’s context before working on the solution.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
I love our legacy of customer service. The UX team here is really a modern extension of that longstanding Nordstrom tradition, and I feel lucky to be a part of it. As someone who loves getting dressed in the mornings, I also appreciate that the products we build revolve around fashion.
What animal best represents you?
The mantis shrimp! I love the dual nature of this colorful crustacean. On one hand (or should I say claw?), it boasts the most complex eyes in the animal kingdom, which allows it to see color ranges not visible to others. On the other, it uses its club-like appendages to punch prey hard enough to create an underwater shockwave. I think two of my strengths are my power of observation and my willingness to fight for what’s right for the customer—all while wearing a technicolor ’fit.
JACKIE - EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

I am the administrative support for the team. I help with any needs or questions they may have.

I would say I am a Panda. I am playful and energetic, but also love naps.

I am currently working on improving the fulfillment and returns experience of customers shopping at our full-price stores.

A horse. I’m straightforward, warm-hearted, optimistic, and restless.

What is your UX focus on the team?
I design applications that help to connect our employees and our customers. By equipping our employees with the right tools and ensuring the customer is at the heart of everything we do, we can provide our customers with best-in-class service.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
I love our supportive team. We are a mighty and united bunch -- someone’s always got your back and is ready to help you in any way they can!

The Rusty Spotted Cat. Despite their innocuous appearance and often timid nature, these little cats are stealthy and adept hunters. They use their keen senses to take in information, and wait until the moment is right to pounce!
KATE - DESIGNER
What is your UX focus on the team?
I am used as a catalyst or starter to big, ambiguous, fuzzy aspects of the experience that span channels, environments and user groups. I give a little shape at the onset of the effort so we can understand how to start building the connections, relationships and foundational elements.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
There are so many fascinating pockets in this business. I never stop learning new things! Every day is an opportunity to uncover layers, connect with creative and ambitious co-workers, and dive into experiences that can be enhanced and streamlined for appreciative and open groups of real people. It’s rewarding to see your impact in action.
What animal best represents you?
I love foxes. They are wise, strategic, adaptable and can think quickly on their feet – and I like to think these are some of my qualities! Plus, they just super look magical and cool.
KIRA - RESEARCHER
What is your UX focus on the team?
My focus as a researcher on the UX team is to listen to our customers' needs and build empathy for the digital product experience. My world revolves around enhancing personalization across Nordstrom digital channels (Nordstrom.com and the apps), and empowering customers to find what they need quickly and efficiently by helping to expand our self-service capabilities.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
Immediately, I was drawn to Nordstrom's mission and values. They directly align with my own as someone who strives to keep a growth mindset, always puts customers first and is a team player. I'm also deeply connected to the people. The individuals on this team are authentic and have deep love for what they do.
What animal best represents you?
I would say the animal that best represents me is a dog. I'm fiercely loyal and my core objective in life is to make others feel loved and cared for.
KRISTIN - MANAGER
What is your UX focus on the team?
I support the designers who work on programs spanning from digital spaces to the physical stores and back again—the Omni team.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
Nordstrom is a big company with many UX opportunities across a range of topics—it’s way more than just eCommerce. It’s also not so big that a person gets lost in the crowd—people are friendly, accessible, and you can learn and grow in a supportive environment.

A bear. Independent, curious. And I get lots of sleep.

What is your UX focus on the team?
Promoting great experiences for our customers and employees through intuitive, tailored tools or modern web experiences for our most loyal customers.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
The greatest strength of any Nordstrom employee is their ability to empathize with the customer. This makes designing an exceptional user focused experience the easiest part of my job.

Trash Panda (Racoon) - They are curious, wily and smarter than they look. Important! They are not aggressive unless threatened!

What is your UX focus on the team?
UX Research across the company.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
1) Getting to work on cool problems, which for me revolve around where technology meets the physical environment.
2) The philosophy and practice of servant leadership at Nordstrom. It makes so much sense to me that if your first thoughts are how you can better support those closer to the customer that you get a better result than focusing your attention in the other direction.

What is your UX focus on the team?
I am focused on designing experiences for wayfinding and discovery on our website and app. My goal is to help customers find products that they love as seamlessly as possible.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
Nordstrom employees are customer-obsessed to their core, and everything we do is rooted in the customer which makes my job feel that much more exciting and impactful.

A deer. Gentle, quiet, and prefers to live a peaceful life, but quick to action when the pressure is on.

What is your UX focus on the team?
I joined the team to work on our native apps and focus on our iOS and Android experiences.
What’s your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
The willingness to change and evolve, despite being such an old company. My role didn’t exist here 10 years ago and now we get to help shape products for the new way people want to shop. The people are awesome, and so are sample sales.

The people, hands down. Before my time at Nordstrom I had heard the company has a positive culture that supports career and personal growth. I must say I’ve found this to be absolutely true. I feel incredibly grateful to work here.

What is your UX focus on the team?
I support the design teams working on internal enterprise tools. We create the digital experiences that empower our Nordstrom people to deliver innovative, new experiences for our customers behind the scenes.
What's your favorite part about working at Nordstrom?
The people and the interesting problem space. Nothing is more fun than getting to work with rad people on innovative solutions to challenging problems. We’re putting the tools in our teams hands to help them deliver the incredible service we’re known for. Staying relevant and delivering that personal service our customers expect is only going to get more exciting as customer engagement with us continues to become more digital.

I currently have four snake tattoos, so I think I have to say snake. While sometimes thought of as scary, I see them as a beautiful symbol of ongoing transformation and growth. I’m always looking for ways I can be better than I was yesterday and never stop learning, growing and evolving.

I'm currently supporting customer-facing UX Research, primarily driving wayfinding and discovery research efforts on our website and app.

I help support the Styling and Recommendation teams, designing tools for employees and product discovery experiences for customers.

So many things! The people are incredibly brilliant, kind, and supportive, and the problems are engaging and have a real impact on customers and the business. Also I love Nordstrom as a company—it’s fun to work on features that you, your friends, and your family will use!
